The Queensland Art Song Festival is a celebration of all things Art Song. The inaugural weeklong festival in 2023 created access to expert training in the globally established field of Art Song by bringing top experts to Australia who delivered essential and exciting learning and career opportunities to young Australian musicians.
The festival also features leading national and international Art Song performers in world-class concerts, as well as an accompanying seminar series. International star soprano Siobhan Stagg joined the 2024 festival, alongside her duo partner, pianist Nico de Villiers. After a thrilling appearance in 2023, Benjamin Appl and Sholto Kynoch join the festival as the 2025 guest performing artists and faculty.
The QASF also aims to platform local established and emerging talent. In previous editions, the festival has partnered with several local arts organisations to create performing opportunities in the niche of Art Song for Australian artists.
Festival partners, the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University and the University of Queensland School of Music unite to collaborate on the presentation of this novel music education event.
In 2025, the QASF celebrates collaborations with Voxalis Opera, Springboard Opera, the Riverbend Ensemble and the SXS Chamber Music Festival.
