The Queensland Art Song Festival is a celebration of all things Art Song. The inaugural weeklong festival in 2023 will create access to expert training in the globally established field of Art Song by bringing the world’s top experts to Australia who will deliver essential and exciting learning and career opportunities to young Australian musicians through a masterclass and lecture series. The festival will feature student and faculty performances, local and international artists, present talks by leading experts in the field of Art Song, engage in growing public awareness of the genre and provide ongoing career guidance and support to the attending students. A focus will be given to exploring the interaction between music education and new technology, as well as engagement with First Nations vocal music performance traditions.
